Our playbill of "A Night in Spain" produced by the Shubert's at the 44th Street Theatre was dated the night of June 20, 1927 by the young woman who saw the show and kept the program. She noted on the cover that she saw the show "with Daddy, Mother and Uncle Wesley". It is part of our "Uncle Wesley" collection.
There are a couple of bits that are unclear about the cast. Sid Silvers is listed among the stars on the front page but is not listed anywhere within the program, so we're not sure what he actually did in the production. Cortez & Peggy are mentioned in Act 1, Scene 13 but with no further information to their full names. There is a "Dolly" listed in Act 1, Scene 5 but no other Dolly listed in the production. And finally, in Act 2, Scene 1 there is a listing for "Jeanette and Lillian" with no further reference other than that they were dancers. They may have been Jeanette Waite and Lillian Smith of the Hoffmann Girls dancers.
